Prisoners of a Hard Life: New Resource on Women in Prison
Prisoners of a Hard Life, the latest comic book from the Real Cost of Prisons Project is now available on the web. Prisoners of a Hard Life: Women & Their Children packs solid information and compelling stories into sixteen graphic pages.
This is the third in a series of comic books that take a hard look at the consequences of America’s seeming love affair with locking up more and more of her people. The first comic book, Prison Town: Paying the Price, looked at the affect of prison construction on rural communities desperate for economic development and good jobs. The second, Prisoners of the War on Drugs, looked at the human consequences of the failed War on Drugs.
All of the comic books are carefully researched and stunningly illustrated, and a great way to introduce people to some of the major aspects of our prison crisis. Check them out.
