A former prisoner at Stafford Creek Corrections Center is suing the Washington Department of Corrections for violating his civil rights for inadequate medical care. Emergency surgery that removed six pounds of Charles Manning’s body was required to save his life after a WDOC doctor first misdiagnosed Mr. Manning’s symptoms as being a reaction to cold medication. Two days later, he was sent to Grays Harbor Community Hospital where doctors diagnosed his problem as a life threatening form of gangrene. Mr. Manning can barely walk and is in constant pain. His attorney is asking for $10 million.
