Washington Department of Corrections has a new leader. Governor Christine Gregoire appointed Eldon Vail to Washington’s top DOC position in January. Eldon Vail is a 31 year veteran of the Washington Department of Corrections. He served as the interim Secretary after the departure of former Secretary Harold Clarke. He was previously the warden at both Washington Corrections Center for Women and McNeil Island Corrections Center. He has worked in central DOC administration since 1994 and briefly retired in 2006.
