Problems with a computer program used by the Oregon Department of Corrections are costing taxpayers at least $1 million. The program, called AFAMIS, is ODOC's accounting, budgeting and purchasing system that keeps up with everything from inmate medical care to food. An upgrade did not solve the problems, and analysts at KATU found that work on the system was done inefficiently and without contracts.
