We need your help. If you reply to this email with your name, address, and a brief message (optional), you can help protect funding for domestic and sexual violence survivors.

PSJ and ally organizations have been working hard to protect the Oregon Domestic and Sexual Violence Services Fund (ODSVS), which faces up to a 30% reduction in funding.  Part of this work includes the ODSVS Postcard Campaign, which is collecting signed postcards from concerned Oregonians. We will deliver the postcards in bulk to 6 key members of the Ways and Means Committee (the committee that will determine if funding is cut) early next week.

Some PSJ members have done a fantastic job participating in the Postcard Campaign! But we need even more members to participate.

And we’ve made it even easier to participate and help save lives. PSJ staff and volunteers will fill in the postcards for you – all you need to do is reply to this email with your name, address, and a brief message (optional) by Friday, May 15th. Sample messages include:

  • I understand you have to make hard budget decisions, but these funds save lives!
  • Thank you for the hard work you do every day.I urge you to continue supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • I was a victim of domestic violence/sexual assault and have accessed these programs. The services I received helped to improve my life and my children’s lives.
  • Oregon needs to support services that help survivors rebuild their lives.
  •  These programs are a vital part of public safety.

Funding is already less than half of what is needed to provide basic services to people in need. Every day, people are being turned away from emergency shelter services because there isn’t enough funding to support the need. ODSVS faces up to a 30% cut in funding. That big of a funding cut will devastate services. There is no other funding source that can make up the difference. It is up to all of us to show legislators that we won’t sit by while ODSVS is cut.

Thank you for your participation and support! Together, we will make a difference.
