Action: Ashland, Tell Legislators Your Priorities

Tell Legislators Your Priorities for Oregon's Budget

The legislature’s Ways and Means Committee is coming to Ashland tomorrow, Thursday, April 30 to hear about your priorities for Oregon’s budget. We are asking you to testify at the meeting to let legislators know that in this time of huge budget deficits and pending cuts to critical services, we know where Oregon can save money – we can stop the construction of the next prison in Junction City, invest in community based treatment that will keep people out of prison, and make reforms to the way we sentence people to prison.

Here are the location and details:
Thursday, April 30
Southern Oregon University, Ashland
Rogue River Room
Stevenson Union
1250 Siskiyou Boulevard
5:30 to 8:00 pm

It’s crucial that legislators hear this message from constituents all over the state.
Here are some tips on testifying and writing your testimony.

Wednesday’s hearing is one of several in cities around Oregon. We’ve had members testify in Portland, Salem and Ontario, and members are planning testimony for Bend and Eugene. We need you to take the message to legislators in Ashland. If you’ve never testified before or just want to bounce ideas off of someone, we can help you. Feel free to email Caylor or call 503-335-8449.

Finally, we would love to know if you will be there or not. Please reply to this message to let me know if you can attend the meeting. We’d also appreciate a copy of your testimony. Thanks for participating in the meeting, and remember to get there early to sign up to testify!
